Let’s Make a Christmas Memory Will Be Performed as Part of the NJO Holiday Concert at Blair

Renowned Nashville vocalist Annie Sellick will perform songs from her new album, Let’s Make a Christmas Memory, with the Nashville Jazz Orchestra in a special CD release celebration at Blair’s Ingram Hall on the Vanderbilt campus, Thursday, December 5, at 8 pm. The NJO Holiday Concert also features the Blair Big Band as the opening act.  Also appearing with Annie will be special guest Pat Bergeson on guitar and harmonica.

Let’s Make A Christmas Memory (releases November 28 on Chalice Music) is Annie Sellick’s first Christmas album—and her most personal project to date. In these thirteen songs, she collaborates with nearly 100 Nashville music pros, friends, and family, to create a timeless, classic collection for this Christmas and Christmases to come.

“I’m really looking forward to singing these songs of Christmas—my favorite season of the year—with the incredible big band of the Nashville Jazz Orchestra. Having them in back of me is almost like having wings to sing. This is going to be a real treat for me, and I know the audience will have a blast, too,” said Annie, who was voted “Best Jazz Artist” five years in a row by the Nashville Scene.

Jazz is just one of the influences in this new album. From a swinging “Winter Wonderland” to the 16th-century French carol “Bring a Torch, Jeanette Isabella” to a wistful “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” Annie Sellick puts her personal stamp on holiday favorites, some less well known hidden treasures, and two of her own compositions, including the album’s title track, “Let’s Make a Christmas Memory.” This breezy cup of Christmas cheer was written by Annie and her husband, guitarist and harmonica player Pat Bergeson. Annie scribbled it down on a cocktail napkin while she was sitting at her all-decorated-for-Christmas neighborhood pub. Pat proposed later that same month, and when they walked down the aisle, it was to a slower instrumental version of this song. This will be the first time she’s performed the song with a full orchestra.

The Nashville Jazz Orchestra is headed by Jim Williamson, and the Blair Big Band’s director is Billy Adair. This annual concert aims to further the nonprofit NJO’s mission to preserve, promote, and advance big band jazz in our community.

Annie will be available to sign copies of the CDs at the event. More information and sample tracks from Let’s Make A Christmas Memory can be found at BigSisterProductions.com. Annie Sellick’s website is AnnieSellick.com.
